Rinban Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 19, 2026

In short

Data we don't collect

Rinban is made by Nanologics. You don't need an account to use Rinban. The app has no ads, analytics, crash-reporting tools or third-party SDKs, and it doesn't track you across other apps or websites. We don't operate any server that receives user data, so we don't sell, rent or share your personal information — we never have it in the first place.

Where your data is stored

Rinban stores your shift types and rotations, your daily schedule and swaps, actual clock-in and clock-out times, pay settings and payslip amounts, private notes, alarm settings, custom holidays, lunar anniversaries and the name you choose to enter. This data is kept on your iPhone and, when iCloud sync is on, in the private iCloud database (CloudKit) of your own Apple Account. We have no servers and cannot see or access any of it.

iCloud sync

iCloud sync is on by default whenever your iPhone is signed in to iCloud. Rinban uses Apple's CloudKit to keep your data in your own iCloud, so it appears on your other iPhones with the same Apple Account and comes back when you switch phones. Pay, payslips, private notes and the names of lunar anniversaries are stored in encrypted fields. You can turn sync off in Rinban under Settings › iCloud Sync, or manage which apps use iCloud in the iPhone Settings app under [your name] › iCloud. With sync off, your data stays only on that iPhone.

Sharing

Under Sharing you can invite family through iCloud to view your schedule live. A shared schedule is stored in your iCloud (as the person who created it) and shared through CloudKit with the people you invite. They can view it but cannot change it. They see the schedule itself: its title, the name you entered, your jobs and shift types, rotations, and each day's shifts and swaps. Pay, payslips, private notes and alarm settings are never shared. The other person needs Rinban on their iPhone and must be signed in to iCloud. You can stop sharing at any time under Sharing › Manage family sharing; they lose access and your data stays with you. People you invited can also leave on their own.

Permissions

Rinban only asks for access when a feature needs it. Saying no won't affect anything else, and you can change your mind any time in the iPhone Settings app.

Alarms (AlarmKit)
Schedules work alarms from your shifts that ring even in Silent mode and Focus. If you decline, shift alarms won't ring; everything else still works.
Calendar
Full access lets Rinban write your shifts to its own "Rinban Schedule" calendar and show your other events inside Rinban (read on your device only, never uploaded). Rinban only ever changes the calendar it created. With write-only access it just adds shifts. If you decline, you can still export an .ics file and add it yourself.
Camera
Used only to scan a rotation code QR from a coworker. The image is read on your device and never saved or sent. You can also paste the rotation code link instead.

Other details

Widgets and Control Center

Widgets and Control Center buttons read a snapshot that the app writes to a shared folder (App Group) on your iPhone. They never go online.

Sharing and export

Data only leaves Rinban when you tap share, export or add to Calendar, and it goes only where you choose. Share images leave out pay by default. A weekly automatic backup (JSON and CSV) is saved in Files › On My iPhone › Rinban › Backups, keeping the latest 8.

Rotation codes

A rotation code (QR or link) carries its data inside it: the cycle length, shift codes, names and times, and the name you choose to add. It never passes through a server. Anyone you send it to can read that content.

Holiday data

Holiday data for Taiwan, Japan and Korea is built into the app. Rinban never goes online or sends anything to update holidays.

Purchases, Family Sharing and information from Apple

Rinban is a paid app. Purchases, refunds and Family Sharing are handled by Apple; we never receive your payment details or Apple Account information. Apple gives developers anonymous, aggregated statistics (such as download counts), and if you've turned on “Share with App Developers” on your device, Apple may also share crash logs that don't identify you. Apple handles this information under its own privacy policy.

Deleting your data

To erase everything, go to Settings › Backup and export › Erase all data in Rinban. With iCloud sync on, this also deletes the data from iCloud and your other iPhones, and it can't be undone, so export a backup first. To remove shifts you added to the Calendar app, remove the "Rinban Schedule" calendar under Settings › iPhone Calendar. Deleting the app removes the data on that iPhone; to remove what's left in iCloud, open the iPhone Settings app › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage and delete Rinban's data.

Children's privacy

We don't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If a change affects how your data is handled, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
