Frequently asked questions
How do I turn on iCloud sync?
If your iPhone is signed in to iCloud, Rinban syncs by default. Go to Settings › iCloud Sync to check the status, sync now or turn it off. Changes usually arrive within a few minutes, and right away when you open the app.
Will I lose my schedule when I get a new phone?
Not with iCloud sync on: sign in to the new iPhone with the same Apple Account, install Rinban, and your data appears. Without sync, export a full backup (JSON) under Settings › Backup and export on the old phone, then restore it from the same screen on the new one.
How can my family see my schedule?
Two ways. Send a month as an image, text, PDF or calendar file (.ics), which anyone can open without the app. Or invite them under Sharing through iCloud so your changes show up on their side too. They need Rinban on their iPhone, and they can only view your schedule.
Does my family have to buy Rinban too?
Rinban supports Family Sharing. Anyone in your Family Sharing group can download it from the App Store without buying it again. People outside your group need their own copy.
Can people I share with see my pay?
No. They only see the schedule itself (shifts, times and swaps). Pay, payslips, private notes and alarm settings are never shared.
How do I stop sharing?
Go to Sharing › Manage family sharing and stop sharing. They lose access right away and your data stays with you. People you invited can also leave the schedule on their own.
My shift alarm didn't ring.
Check that alarms are allowed in the iPhone Settings app › Rinban. Rinban schedules upcoming alarms each time you open the app or change your schedule, so if it hasn't been opened for a while, open it once. For your first week, keep your old alarms too until you're confident.
Can I export my data?
Yes, always. Settings › Backup and export offers CSV (spreadsheet, with estimated pay), a full JSON backup, an A4 PDF and a calendar file (.ics). A weekly backup is also saved automatically to Files › On My iPhone › Rinban › Backups.
My country's holidays don't show up.
Rinban currently includes public holidays for Taiwan, Japan and Korea, chosen under Settings › Calendar and region. For other places, or for company closures, add them under Settings › Custom holidays.
The pay estimate doesn't match my pay stub.
Pay in Rinban is estimated from the rules you set. Check your pay period, overtime and night differential settings; "How it's calculated" on the Hours tab shows every step. Your pay stub is what counts, and Rinban doesn't give legal or tax advice.
